Sarah Trapp, LPC

Clinical Therapist

Going to therapy takes a lot of courage, and I feel honored to work with folks who have set out on the journey to better themselves and tackle the “tough stuff”. I work from a trauma-informed, person-centered model of therapy that is tailored to the needs of each individual client, and am specialized in trauma, anxiety, and OCD. I offer a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, balanced with empathy and humor, to allow my clients a space to feel heard and valued. I believe no person is too far gone to receive help, and I’m grateful to support you in your next steps.

I am originally from Texas, but have previously lived in Arizona before moving to Colorado in 2014. I currently live in Denver with my wonderful husband of 12 years, our two daughters, and our aspiring therapy dog, Goose! We love to spend time exploring Colorado and goofing off as a family. In my free time, I like weight-lifting, painting with watercolors, thrifting, and reading.

I am EMDR trained (currently working towards EMDRIA Certification status), and specialize in working with trauma of all types. I also enjoy working with OCD and executive dysfunction, as well as veteran specific concerns. I approach treatment from a trauma-informed, person-centered model of therapy, but often use bits of DBT, CBT, IFS, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing as well. I see primarily adults at this time, though I have enjoyed working with teenagers. I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma, and have a soft spot in my heart for the “tough” cases.

I received my Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2017. Prior to this, I studied at the University of Arizona, where I received my Bachelors in Family Studies and Human Development. Since starting to practice in 2017, I have held a variety of positions within the mental health arena, gaining experience in residential treatment centers for teenagers as well as outpatient settings. I am also an approved clinical supervisor and enjoy working with licensure candidates pursuing further supervision on their way to becoming licensed therapists.
