Elena Macdonald, PMHNP-BC
Located at Louisville, CO
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about providing compassionate, individualized, and affirming mental health care. I believe that meaningful psychiatric care begins with a strong therapeutic relationship and taking the time to understand the person behind the symptoms or diagnosis.
My approach to medication management is collaborative and evidence-based. I work with patients to understand their concerns, identify their goals, and develop treatment plans that reflect their individual needs, preferences, and values. I believe in thoughtful prescribing, open communication about potential benefits and side effects, and ongoing evaluation to ensure treatment continues to support the patient’s goals.
I have a particular passion in working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals and those navigating gender identity and gender-affirming care. I recognize that seeking mental health care can feel vulnerable, particularly when past experiences have affected a person’s sense of safety or trust. I strive to create an environment that is respectful, nonjudgmental, and sensitive to each patient’s individual experiences.
I believe every person deserves to feel understood and respected in their mental health care. My goal is to meet patients where they are, work alongside them to identify what they hope to change or improve, and provide care that supports both mental health and overall quality of life. Whether you are beginning treatment for the first time or looking for a provider who better understands your experiences, I hope to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to participate in your care.
