Family Care Center was proud to participate in the 2025 Clinical TMS Society (CTMSS) Annual Meeting, held June 12-14, 2025, in San Diego. This annual event brought together an international community of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) providers, clinicians, and researchers dedicated to advancing the field of TMS, featuring educational opportunities, research presentations, and industry discussions.
What is TMS?
TMS is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It’s most often used for individuals with depression who have not responded to traditional treatments like medication or talk therapy. At Family Care Center, TMS is delivered using evidence-based protocols and measured clinical outcomes to ensure the highest standard of care for patients 15 and older across more than 40 clinics.
Contributing to the advancement of TMS through clinical research
The Family Care Center team was honored to present research highlighting a case study on accelerated repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (aTMS) in an active-duty United States Army Special Operations service member. This patient, who completed 20 deployments over a 23-year career, had a history of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, and nightmares.
Over five consecutive days, the patient received 27 sessions of aTMS using a sequential bilateral protocol targeting the left and right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. The results were powerful—demonstrating significant symptom reduction across multiple clinical scales.
Leading the way in TMS innovation and leadership
As the field of TMS continues to evolve, Family Care Center remains deeply committed to clinical excellence, research, and professional collaboration. A reflection of this commitment, Founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Charles Weber has been named a Fellow of the Clinical TMS Society (CTMSS)—a distinguished recognition honoring his leadership, expertise, and lasting contributions to the advancement of TMS.
In addition to Dr. Weber being named a fellow, two more members of our leadership team were honored with new roles and recognitions at this year’s CTMSS Annual Meeting:
-
- Dr. Sabrina Segal, our Director of Research, is now the CTMSS Board Secretary
-
- Kelli Cefalu, our Vice President of the TMS Service Line, joined the CTMSS Insurance Committee
We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this year’s conference and to continue advancing innovative mental health care solutions.
