Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a technological breakthrough in treating major depression, and Family Care Center is proud to be one of the nation’s largest TMS providers.
Clinically proven, TMS utilizes magnetic pulses to stimulate neurotransmitters within the brain and is proven to be highly effective for individuals who haven’t responded adequately to other treatments. Unlike electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), TMS is non-invasive and has minimal side effects.
What to Expect
You'll sit in a comfortable chair, wearing ear plugs, with the magnetic coil placed on your head.
When the machine is turned on, you'll hear clicking sounds and feel a gentle tapping on your head.
The procedure will last about 30 minutes, and you'll remain awake and alert.
After each treatment, you can return to your normal daily activities.
