Instead of seeing problems residing within the individual, I look at how the entire system contributes to the problem formation. The system generates the problem and the two are maintained by each other, and behavior is understood in the context of its’ environment. Problems are often the catalyst to initiate counseling. When overwhelmed, it often becomes easier to focus on problems rather than solutions.
